The Sèvres National Ceramics Museum
The Sèvres national Ceramics Museum
Founded in the early 19th century by Alexandre Brongniart, Director of the Sèvres National Manufactory, the National Ceramics Museum’s mission is to bring together, preserve and display ceramics from all periods and all countries. Alongside terracotta and glazed pottery, faience, stoneware, porcelain, stained glass, painted enamel and glassware complete this wide-ranging panorama of ceramic arts. After 200 years in existence, this world-class collection now has over 50,000 ceramic objects, including nearly 5,000 examples of Sèvres porcelain. It is one of the richest collections of ceramics in Europe.
